Social Isolation

So what is social isolation?

  • It maybe caused by withdrawal or avoidance of social interaction or contact (Also know as loneliness)
  • Isolated individuals report fewer interactions with others, fewer sources of psychological/emotional support, and lower levels of religious activity
  • Heightens anxiety
  • Stressful
  • Can produce physiological changes, which may become very serious. it can heighten morbidity or mortality
  • Is influenced by factors such as genetics and childhood environment
